To get a library card, stop by the circulation desk and fill out a form. Adults will need to provide a picture ID and confirmation of their current address. If your picture ID does not have your current address, please bring a bill or other official document mailed to you at your home, a lease or mortgage, or another document that can confirm your current address.

  • Adults, 18 years and older: picture ID and confirmation of current address required
  • Teens, 16-18 years: picture ID required
  • Teens, 13-15 years: No ID required
  • Children, 5-12 years: Parent or guardian, with their ID or library card required

With a library card you can:

  • Create a PIN and log into your library account online
  • View your reading history (if you opt-in to saving your checkout history)
  • Request materials from HPL and other CW MARS member libraries
  • Renew items and learn about the loan period and fees
  • Download books, magazines, music, and movies
  • Access databases for research
  • Borrow items from the Library of Things

The first card is free to any Massachusetts resident. You can use your Hopkinton Public Library card at any library in the CW MARS network (central and western Massachusetts).

The Hopkinton Public Library is proud to be fine-free. You will no longer see late fines assessed on Hopkinton-owned items that are overdue. However, when an item has been checked out for over two months, you will be assessed a “replacement fee,” as the item is assumed to be lost. This fee will be removed when you return the item.

If you damage or lose an item, there is a replacement fee.

Paying Fines Online

You may now pay replacement fees and donate money with your credit card online. Fines must amount to $5 or more to pay online.

To pay fines online, click “Manage Your Account” at the top right of the library website. After logging in, click “Pay fines” on the right side of the page and complete the form.

Please note that there are no refunds for found materials after a lost fine has been paid. We are happy to renew your late item to give you more time to locate it.
