Guest Librarian: Nancy Baker-Fowler

Categories:

This month, our Guest Librarian is Nancy Baker-Fowler. When Nancy moved to Hopkinton 26 years ago, one of the first things she did was get her library card as she did every time she moved to a new community. Her parents fostered her love of books and libraries, and some of her fondest childhood memories are of Saturday trips to the library with her dad. Nancyl continued the tradition with her kids who were regulars at Dinnie’s and Mrs. K’s storytimes.

Nancy has a BA in Art History from Mount Holyoke College, where she spent hours in a library which bears more than a passing resemblance to the Great Hall at Hogwarts. She was a volunteer in the Hopkinton schools and past president of the Friends of the Library before starting as a Circulation Assistant in 2010. You can see her at both the Main Circulation Desk and in the Children’s Room, where she loves helping patrons find their next favorite book.

In addition to reading, Nancy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling to new places, baking, and competing in Heavy Athlectics at Highland Games around New England. The genres Nancy most enjoys reading are Fantasy and Paranormal with strong female characters (and a bit of Romance. Okay, a lot of Romance), Historical Fiction, some Mysteries and Non-Fiction that reads like fiction.

Here is a small sample of Nancy’s favorites:
