Kristin Merrill, HR Generalist

Kristin Merrill, Human Resources Generalist, has worked for Hopkinton for 7 years and is responsible for most of the recruitment efforts for the Town among other responsibilities.

Kristin developed a love of reading as a child growing up in a small college town in southwest Wisconsin. She fondly remembers riding her bike to the local library during the summer and checking out so many books she had to walk her bike home. Kristin attended the University of Wisconsin where she studied Business and Journalism. After experiencing a college semester in Massachusetts she developed a love for the East Coast and moved to the Boston area after graduation. She later met her husband and started a family settling in Ashland. Kristin started her HR career in the private sector with a national real estate investment and management company and worked several part-time jobs while her kids were in school. As her children got older, Kristin discovered municipal work and hasn’t looked back. She enjoys serving employees of the Town so that they may serve Hopkinton residents.

In her free time, Kristin loves to read, explore and cook new recipes, watch movies and documentaries, and go for walks on the beautiful trails around the area. The first novel that introduced Kristin as a teen to life-inspiring reads was, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, by Betty Smith. It remains one of her favorite books to this day.
