Check out a telescope from the library!

Members of the Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library standing behind the new telescopeThanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Hopkinton Public Library and the assistance of the Aldrich Astronomical Society, the library now has a telescope that you can take home!

You must be an adult Hopkinton resident with a card in good standing to check out the telescope. It may be borrowed for 7 days, with no renewals and a $10/day overdue fine. Please click here to read the full telescope policy.

To reserve the telescope, contact the reference desk by e-mailing or calling 508-497-9777 and and asking circulation staff to transfer you to the reference desk. You must pick up the telescope at the reference desk by appointment with a librarian, and you must return the telescope to a librarian at the reference desk.

When using the telescope, you should NEVER aim the telescope at the sun or use it to look at the sun, as immediate, permanent eye damage may result. Pointing the telescope at the sun may melt parts of the telescope. Children should never be allowed to use the telescope without adult supervision. The library will not be held liable for any injuries resulting from use of the telescope.
